Naviate Architecture for Revit Review: Automate Room Sheets, Doors and Finishes

If you spend your days producing room sheets, door schedules and finish layouts in Revit, you already know how much of an architect's week disappears into repetitive documentation. Naviate Architecture, from the Autodesk partner Symetri, is a commercial Revit add-in built to automate exactly that kind of work. In this review we look at what it does, which tools stand out, how to get it installed and whether it is worth a place on your ribbon.

What Is Naviate Architecture?

Naviate is a family of Revit add-ins developed and sold by Symetri, a European Autodesk partner. The suite includes several modules, such as Naviate Site and Landscaping and Naviate Accelerate; Naviate Architecture is the one aimed at architects and interior teams. Symetri describes it as fully integrated into Revit, with project templates, presets and default settings tuned for architectural work, and it is listed in Autodesk's partner integrations directory.

The add-in is actively maintained. According to Symetri's release notes, the June 2026 release (v26.4.0) supports Revit 2025, 2026 and 2027, and an October 2026 hotfix (v26.4.1) followed with performance work on the door and window tools. That steady release rhythm matters if your office upgrades Revit every year.

Key Features

The toolset is broad, but most of it falls into a few practical groups:

  • Room Drawings: select any number of rooms and Naviate places the required plans, elevations and schedules on preconfigured sheets. This is the headline feature for interior and healthcare projects with hundreds of rooms.
  • Room Data and coverings: fills room parameters such as net perimeter and door and window areas, and models wall, floor and ceiling finishes for several rooms from one dialog.
  • Door and window tools: door and window drawings, unique identifiers, reordering and batch updates to data such as swing direction and numbering. The latest hotfix states these drawings now process roughly 50% faster.
  • Zones and areas: create sheets and plan views by zone, build 3D zones from areas and generate area plans with annotation.
  • Modelling helpers: Align Walls corrects walls that are slightly off axis, plus Split Floor, Slope Arrow, a Curtain Grid Designer and a Pattern Editor for fill patterns.
  • Housekeeping: Filter Elements to find elements by category, type or parameter, Live Selection and Project Cleanup.

How to Install and Get Started

Naviate is a commercial product, so the process starts with Symetri rather than the Autodesk App Store:

  1. Request a free trial or buy a licence through Symetri's Naviate store page.
  2. Sign in to My Symetri and download Naviate Architecture from the Applications section.
  3. Close Revit and run the installer. Since v26.4.0, one MSI installs Naviate for Revit 2025, 2026 and 2027 together.
  4. Keep every installed Naviate application on the same version number; Symetri states that mixing versions is not supported.
  5. Open Revit, find the Naviate tools on the ribbon and start with Room Drawings on a test project to see the time savings.

Spend some time configuring the presets and sheet templates before rolling it out, because the automation is only as good as the standards it follows.

Pros and Cons

Pros: deep, architecture-specific automation; big time savings on room and door documentation; regular updates with support for the current Revit releases; a single multi-version installer; vendor support and training from an established Autodesk partner.

Cons: pricing is not published, so you must request a quote; it is a paid product where free tools like pyRevit cover some general utilities; the breadth of tools brings a learning curve; and the default templates will likely need adjusting to match your office standards.

Verdict Pros + Automated room sheets + Strong door tools + Revit 2025 to 2027 + Regular updates Cons - Price on request - Learning curve - Templates need setup 4 out of 5

Who Is It For?

Naviate Architecture makes the most sense for architecture practices that produce large volumes of room-based documentation: hospitals, schools, housing and offices where every room needs its own sheet, finish schedule and door data. BIM managers who want to standardise output across a team will also appreciate the presets. Solo designers working on small residential projects may find the cost hard to justify compared to free utilities and a few Dynamo scripts, as covered in our top Dynamo nodes guide.

Verdict

Naviate Architecture is a mature, well-supported add-in that targets the slowest, most repetitive parts of architectural documentation in Revit. Room Drawings and the door and window tools alone can save days on a large project, and support for Revit 2025 through 2027 with a unified installer shows the product is being looked after. The lack of public pricing and the setup effort keep it from a perfect score, but for mid-size and large practices it is easy to recommend. Try the free trial on a real project before deciding. Rating: 4 out of 5.
